Introduction
Westford Plastics & Engineering Ltd. is a privately owned company established in 1964 to supply the growing demand for plastic components for a diverse range of industries including:- Aerospace, Medical, Pharmaceutical, Defence, Water and Electric Service Providers and Special Purpose Machine Manufacturers.
Since this time, the Company has acquired an enviable reputation for high quality products, fast and flexible customer responses and specialist material and engineering expertise. Indeed, many of Westford’s customers have been regularly trading with the company for over 20 years.
In the year 2000 Westford joined forces with TMR a specialist company involved in the production and supply of biomedical spare parts and sub-assemblies. The TMR facility offers O.E.M’s and third party service companies an alternative source for specialised parts required for manufacturing and servicing of medical equipment.
Manufacturing Capabilities
Production facility covers some 12,000-sq. ft. and includes:-
- Machine Shop: offering milling, turning, drilling and threading for most plastics.
- Plastics Fabricating and Forming: an alternative to injection moulding.
- Reinforced Thermoset Moulding: low tooling cost products, size not a problem.
- Machine Vacuum Forming: 1200 x 1200mm blank size.
- Spray Paint Finishing Shop: polyurethane and epoxy paint finishing.
- Flame polishing of acrylics.
- Screen Printing
- Mechanical Assembly
- Bonded Store
The construction of precision tooling, including patterns and moulds, is carried out in-house by our fully skilled and experienced team of engineers.
In addition to our capacity to produce large and small batch work, we can also offer a development and prototype service. Based on our extensive and practical experience of thermoplastics and thermoset composites we are able to co-ordinate with your design engineers and offer specialist advice on material selection and techniques.
Quality assurance at all stages is of vital importance and the Company operates a fully documented system based on the requirements of Defence Standard AQAP 9. We are scheduled to have this updated to ISO 9002 by December 2001.
